The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui is both parable play and fantastic spectacle, warning of the dangers of a desperate populace handing over power to a corrupt leader. In The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Brecht recasts Hitler as Arturo Ui, a small town mobster in 1930’s Chicago. Bolstered by illusions and thug tactics, Arturo Ui rapidly ascends to a position of power and respectability over an economically self-interested public.

Bertolt Brecht’s humorous, politically-resonant, and surprisingly-contemporary morality tale features an ensemble cast of Terry Burnsed, Josh Hartwell, Jim Hunt, Jessica Robblee & Ken Witt. The play is directed by Brian Freeland. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm through 14 June 2008, with a reprisal scheduled for 26-29, August, during the Democratic National Convention. Ticket prices are $10.00-$20.00. All performances will be held at BINDERY | space, 720 22nd St., Denver, CO.
